Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV

After losing his homeland in an international conflict, Nyx finds himself acting as a member of the elite Kingsglaive. Equipped with magical powers, he fights against the Niflheim forces that threaten the safety of Insomnia.

However, he soon finds himself involved in a political conspiracy that forces him to question the nature of his alliance and homeland. With the lives of a nation on the line, Nyx must muster his courage and fight for the values he has come to believe in.

Story Summary

The Kingdoms of Niflheim and Lucis have been engaged in a never ending struggle for generations. Prince Noctis of Lucis once sought medical treatment in the land of Tenebrae but his very presence in the city led to its downfall and subjugation by the Niflheim regime.

Twelve years after these events, Ardyn Izunia arrives in the capital of Lucis, Insomnia, to inform their king that Niflheim is prepared to make arguments for peace. The only condition of this peace is the wedding of Prince Noctis to Princess Lunafreya of Tenebrae.

The King tentatively agrees to this treaty, but sends a member of his special forces, the Kingsglaive, to rescue the princess from Niflheim rule so that she and his son may marry and flee to someplace safe. However, the soldier he sent on this mission is murdered and the princess is captured by Niflheim forces on the day of the peace treaty signing.

Assuming the Niflheim forces are preparing for war, the King of Insomnia sends the Kingsglaive to infiltrate their ships and rescue the princess. Although they are successful in their mission, this was a trap set up by Niflheim and traitorous members of the Kingsglaive.

With his elite units dispatched elsewhere, the king watches in horror as Niflheim destroys the barrier protecting his city and steals the magical crystal that provides them with their power. Nyx and the princess save the king from certain death and escape via a secret passage.

However, before they leave the castle, the king hands Princess Lunafreya his ring which will allow those deemed worthy to wield extraordinary power. He then stays behind to fight off the Niflheim forces, allowing them to escape the castle.

While fleeing the city, Nyx and Princess Lunafreya are attacked by the remaining Kingsglaive. Running out of options, Nyx takes the ring from the princess and gains its powers. He uses this magic to defeat the remaining Niflheim forces, allowing the princess to escape the city and find the prince.

However, as the sun rises the following morning, the price for this new power comes due. As Nyx watches the sunrise, the cost of the ring takes his life. Before he dies, he hopes that the young prince and princess rule well over their kingdom.
