Last Order: Final Fantasy VII's Full Story

Zack Carries a wounded Cloud through a dark forest. Noticing some Shinra soldiers behind them, he tells Cloud he would like to let him rest but they must deal with their company first. Although greatly outnumbered, Zack utilizes his Soldier training and quickly dispatches the underprepared fighters.

At the Shinra HQ, Tseng gives instructions to his team. He informs them that 72 hours ago, two adult male samples escaped a Shinra research facility. Because of Cloud’s interactions with Sephiroth, it is imperative that they reclaim these samples for Shinra.

He recalls the stories of what took place in Nibelheim five years ago. Having learned of the experiment that spawned him, Sephiroth burned the city in his rage and headed to free his mother. As Tifa explores the burning village, she hears of Sephiroth’s betrayal and rushes to the reactor to save her father.

Back at Shinra HQ, Tseng hears confirmation that his men have located Zack and Cloud. Unfortunately for them, no matter how many soldiers they throw at him, they are no match for Zack’s strength and speed. Fearing for Cloud, Zack runs off to draw the Shinra troop's attention away from him.

Tsend recalls that Zack also played a part in the events of Nibelheim. As Zack rushes through the burning town, he learns that Tifa has headed to the reactor to help her father. Knowing she will be killed if she engages the mighty warrior, he rushes off to save her.

However, before he can find her, Tifa discovers her father. He lies bleeding to death in front of the reactor core. Learning that Sephiroth killed her father fills Tifa with Rage. She screams out into the sky cursing Sephiroth and Shinra.

As Sephiroth approaches his mother, Jenova, Tifa runs up behind him, reading an attack. Unfortunately, she is no match for the war hero's speed. Using minimal effort, he disarms and slashes the young girl, leaving her for dead. As she lay dying, Tifa whimpers that Cloud promised to come and save her.

Back at the present, Zack is amused to learn that the Turk agents Rude and Elena have arrived to capture him. He returns to Cloud and retrieves him from the Shinra troops. The two ride off on a motorcycle while Rude and Elena follow in a helicopter. The Turk agents tell Tseng that Zack appears to be heading deeper into Midgar. Tseng acknowledges this and tells them to seal off the city.

Zack finds Tifa bleeding to death in front of the reactor. Upon learning that Sephiroth did this to her, Zack heads into the core to put an end to the madness. He finds Sephiroth speaking to Jenover, telling her that they will take the planet back together.

Zack yells out to him, demanding answers but Sephiroth only laughs. After a moment, he tells Zack that Jenova is the superior species and should rightfully rule the planet. The two engage in battle and despite Zack's Soldier training, he is no match for Sephiroth’s might. As they fight, he tells Zack he will rule this planet by his mother’s side.

After dealing with Zack, Sephiroth returns to admiring Jenova. However, as he does so, he is stabbed in the back by a nameless Soldier. As he rushes back to save Tifa, he removes his helmet, revealing himself as Cloud. Tifa awakens to see Cloud and is overjoyed that he kept his promise to save her. He apologizes for being late but Tifa tells him it is alright.

Cloud hears a crash in the distance and sees that Sephiroth has broken Jenova from her chamber and has stolen her head. Seeing this, Zack tells Cloud to finish the wounded Sephiroth. Thinking it will be an easy fight, Cloud rushes in and stabs at him. However, Sephiroth proves why he earned the title of war hero by deflecting the attack and stabbing Cloud through the chest.

Angered by his hubris, Sephiroth stabs Cloud again, telling him to know his place. However, Cloud is filled with rage after witnessing Sephiroth destroy his home. Filled with adrenaline, he pulls himself along the sword and breaks it. Before he can finish him off, Sephiroth takes Jenova’s head and dives into the vat of Mako, telling his mother that they will join the promised land together.

As Tifa is carried away from the scene, Hojo’s men investigate the reactor. He tells his men to take Zack to the basement of Shinra Manor for testing. As a young Tseng approaches the scene, Hojo tells him to destroy the remainder of the village. Although he is hesitant to kill the townspeople, he follows Hojo’s order. As the scientist looks over Cloud’s body, he states that he can use him as a new sample for his projects.

Back in the present, Tseng is informed that Cloud and Zack have abandoned their bike and are traveling by foot. Although he sympathizes with their struggle, Tseng and the other Turk agents continue their hunt for the specimens.

Having evaded the Turk agents, Zack and Cloud flee the city in the back of a truck. Deciding they will need to make cash; Zack decides that he will become a mercenary. He tells Cloud not to worry though, he won’t abandon him since they are friends. As they head down the road, an overzealous Shinra troop takes a sniper shot at Cloud's head. Zack tells Cloud to get down and covers him with his body.
