The English voice cast of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth took the New York Comic Con stage last October, but there was one glaring absence. Briana White, the voice actress of Aerith Gainsborough in Final Fantasy VII Remake and Rebirth, couldn’t attend the convention because of a scheduling conflict.
Bummed that she missed an opportunity to chat with the Final Fantasy community, White—who’s been a gaming streamer and content creator long before she landed the role—held a live viewing of the NYCC Rebirth panel on her Twitch channel. She also answered cast questions that were asked during the panel to complete the NYCC Final Fantasy fan experience.
The surprise stream had some fun and interesting insight into White’s process and how she brings Midgar’s favorite flower seller to life.
“Once the first game comes out and everyone loves it, you can really relax and have a lot more fun with it.” She shared about her preparation from Remake going into Rebirth. “So, for me…it was really a matter of just feeling a little bit more confident in my abilities.”
She also revealed how a little bit of Disney magic is used in getting Aerith’s sound just right. “In order to prep for each session, I actually sing. I usually sing a Disney song because I feel it really fits Aerith’s register…It’s usually from Frozen.”
But the stream wasn’t all serious business and important acting methods. Like the rest of the cast at the NYCC panel, she had her own funny anecdotes about her recording experience. One she shared in particular makes a lot of sense but is probably something you've never considered.
“I do believe that there is a blooper reel out there somewhere,” White said. “Because, on occasion, my stomach would grumble and, absolutely, the mic picks that up. And, absolutely, without fail, the audio engineer replays it for me.”
