Whether you’re a game collector or just nostalgic for and fiercely loyal to the tactile feel of physical media, we’ve got some good news for you! Square Enix has just pulled the covers off of the Final Fantasy I - VI Collection Anniversary Edition that's headed for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch consoles. This beefy physical compilation of the remastered versions of the first six Final Fantasy titles can be preordered now and is scheduled to be released on October 8 for $75.
Now, the pixel remasters of Final Fantasy I - VI have been available digitally via Steam and PS4 and Nintendo Switch stores since 2021. In fact, you can head to either of those digital markets right now and pick up individual copies of each game or bundles of all six titles for 20% off. But today’s announcement marks the end of the digital exclusivity of the pixel remasters, making this a big deal for younger Final Fantasy fans who missed out on the physical renditions of these mainline games.
Whether you prefer digital or physical, the Final Fantasy I - VI pixel remasters feature updated 2D graphics more aligned with today’s HD standards and modernized soundtracks overseen by the legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu himself. You’ll also get enhanced gameplay, user interfaces, and more! One exclusive perk of opting for the just-announced physical Final Fantasy I - VI Collection Anniversary Edition is the sticker sheet it comes with that features the pixel sprites of classic Final Fantasy characters.
