Teeing up their exclusive coverage of the anticipated sequel to Final Fantasy VII Remake, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth graces the cover of Game Informer’s final issue in 2023.
The cover features the iconic villain, Sephiroth, looking on menacingly as he’s surrounded by flames. The fiery cover extends to the back, unveiling Cloud staring off to the side. The impressive artwork was designed in part by the director of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth himself, Tetsuya Nomura.
Game Informer’s online content director, Brian Shea, provides some context behind the art in the cover reveal announcement. “So much of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth focuses on the relationships between characters, and this art emphasizes the strained relationship between these two former allies.”
The story inside the issue is equally impressive and covers Game Informer’s two-day access to the game and its team of legendary developers in Square Enix headquarters in Tokyo. In a 12-page spread, they share everything they learned about how Rebirth builds on the story following Remake, how particular scenes are being approached for such a high-profile sequel, and much more.
You can read the issue digitally now with the print version to be available for purchase soon.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth recently won the award for Most Anticipated Game during the 2023 Game Awards and is set to launch in 72 days on February 20, 2024.
