If you were like me, you spent a lot of time in vain after the Final Fantasy XIV Tokyo Fan Fest keynote trying to confirm the name and spelling of the female Hrothgar that debuted in the full Dawntrail trailer. However, nothing official ever came from the Final Fantasy XIV team or Square Enix, so for more than a day after the trailer’s release, she’s just been identified as a “female Hrothgar whose name we can’t spell.” That is until now!
The English voice actor of the character has come forward on social media claiming she’s gotten the okay to reveal not only the very cool job she’s picked up but the character’s official name and spelling. Sena Bryer revealed over on X (formally Twitter) that she provides the English voiceover for the character Wuk Lamat in Dawntrail.
While the official Final Fantasy XIV and Square Enix accounts were tagged on her post, it’s worth noting that Bryer’s announcement hasn’t been confirmed officially by either. But they also haven’t disputed it even after the post garnered more than 13,000 likes in the last 11 hours, so we deemed this news safe for publication.
Bryer’s previous voice acting work includes several small, independent titles, including Backfirewall_ developed by Naraven Games, and Helvetti by Team KwaKwa. This looks to be one of the biggest projects she’s landed in her young voice acting career and—to make it even more special—she shares in a follow-up post that she not only has been playing Final Fantasy XIV since the original 1.0 launch, but she also played Final Fantasy XI before that.
So, from us to Sena Bryer, congratulations! We look forward to meeting Wuk Lamant when the Dawntrail expansion launches in the summer of 2024.
