Today is the first day of the Final Fantasy XIV Fan Festival being held in Las Vegas, USA. The festival opened up with a keynote address from Final Fantasy XIV's producer Naoki Yoshida, also known as YoshiP. There were many announcements for the upcoming plans for Final Fantasy XIV. Here is a rundown of some of the notable announcements.
Dawntrail Final Fantasy XIV 7.0
The next expansion was announced with the name "Dawntrail". The new expansion will have you explore a new area that has always been referred to as "The New World" but we now know is called Tural. No new Job names were announced but it was confirmed that a new melee and a new ranged magic DPS class will be coming along with a level cap increase to 100. Of course with any new expansion or patch comes new gear and weapons but along with this will be the ability to apply two different dyes to gear allowing for greater customization for that true end game of glam!
Updated Graphics and Systems
Though talked about in the past it is confirmed that the upcoming graphics update for the game will be coming with the initial launch of Dawntrail. There will be general updates to worldwide graphics that will take place right away but all new graphics in 7.0 will be on the updated set. The older expansions will get gradual updates to their graphics just like they are doing with the trust system. With the update comes new system requirements. The minimum specs will be bumped up to a CPU of a Core i7-6700, 8 GB of system RAM, and a GTX 970 or Radeon RX 480. The recommended specs go up to a Core i7-9700, 16GB of system RAM, and an RTX2060 or Radon RX 5600 XT. The new requirements for Mac systems have not been announced but will come a bit later. While Dawntrail is still going to be supported on the PlayStation 4 it will also now be available as a digital download for the Xbox Series X/S.
Fall Guys Collaboration
Another big announcement at the Keynote had nothing to do with the new expansion but instead a collaboration event with Meiatonic, makers of the Fall Guys game. In Patch 6.5 there will be a collaboration event with Fall Guys which will see some Gall Guys-inspired obstacle courses introduced into Eorzea. So if you like jump puzzles then this is a collaboration you will enjoy but if you like most of us who hated having to get up Kugane tower...well, I guess we have more things to suffer though.
