By: Jeff de Leon on July 31, 2024
Not even a full month since its introduction, one of Final Fantasy XIV’s newest damage jobs is experiencing a major change to its kit. Viper joined the Final Fantasy XIV stable of damage jobs with Pictomancer when Dawntrail launched on July 2. After receiving player feedback during Dawntrail’s early access period, the game’s director, Naoki Yoshida, called out upcoming changes to Viper in a July 4 Lodestone post. Those changes were revealed and became live with the arrival of Patch 7.05 and player reception has been mixed.
The biggest change was the removal of Noxious Gnash, a status effect that increased damage to affected targets by 10 percent. That’s right. Noxious Gnash wasn’t adjusted o...

By: Jeff de Leon on July 11, 2024
A Tifa & Barret New Weapon Featured Draw is going on in Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis until August 1, and Tifa’s new summer beachwear is turning heads.
Called Passion Mermaid, Tifa’s new gear is flowy, elegant, and reminiscent of Final Fantasy XIV’s Dancer job gear motif. Its R. Abilities include “Sun’s Fervor,” which sees boosts in both HP and physical defense, and “Flameblade Arcanum,” which increases fire ability damage. Tifa's new weapon, Shell Knuckles, includes the C. Ability “Spinning Fervor,” an attack that deals up to 940% fire magic damage on a single enemy. By: Jeff de Leon on July 9, 2024
It’s been six days since Final Fantasy XIV launched its latest expansion, Dawntrail, and more than a week since the start of early access. User reviews have been steadily coming in as players have finished the main story and, so far, feelings about Dawntrail have been divisive, to say the least. Currently sitting at a “generally favorable” Metascore of 79 and a user score of 7.9, the polarizing nature of Dawntrail is centered mostly around the expansion’s story
Granted, the critic score of 79 is based only on four reviews so far, with the 60 submitted by the entertainment news site We Got This Covered greatly lowering Dawntrail’s average. There’s still plenty of time to see a Metascore ...
