In an interview with Game Informer, Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida shares details about the game’s upcoming PC release. Specifically, he provided a small update on the port’s development status and confirmed their plan to release a demo before launch.
Yoshida says in the interview via translator, "In terms of where we are in development currently, we're trying to figure out the final stages of optimization right now. When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that – the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we're trying to figure that out. Naturally, [the PC specifications] are looking to be somewhat high."
Expectedly, Yoshida couldn’t provide a release date. While development is progressing well and there’s light at the end of the tunnel, he requested more time before anything official could be released. But he did offer some assurance that the wait won’t be too long and that PC requirements will be announced as early as possible so PC players know if their machines can run it.
"And to do that, we're looking to release a demo for the PC version, as well," he tells Game Informer. "Again, we can't really talk about too much in terms of details of when it's going to come out – I think in a little bit more time we'll be in a better place to announce things. But one thing's for sure: It won't be too distant in the future; it won't be a year, it won't be two years, it will probably be shorter than that, so stay tuned."
Final Fantasy XVI was released exclusively for PS5 back in June 2023. The game’s first DLC, Echoes of the Fallen, is available now with the next and final DLC, The Rising Tide, set for release in Spring 2024.
