Patch 1.32 is arriving on May 9 and will fix the New Game+ bug stopping some Final Fantasy XVI players from progressing through the “A Chance Encounter” main scenario quest.
The Final Fantasy XVI team announced the existence of the bug exactly one week ago today. The bug may occur when players begin New Game+ from some game locations and choose to skip the prologue. If affected, in-game party members become invisible and progress in the main scenario quest, “A Chance Encounter,” becomes impossible. While there were a couple of suggested workarounds impacted players could try like restarting New Game+ and not skipping the prologue, the development team prioritized finding a solution and patching it as soon as possible.
In addition to squashing this game-breaking bug, Patch 1.32 fixes a few other troublesome items. Here are the problems the upcoming patch will address.
-
A rare instance in New Game+ of party members not being displayed, preventing progress beyond the main scenario quest “A Chance Encounter.”
-
An issue preventing players from obtaining the achievements “Yes, Eikon” and “Masterclass.”
-
Incorrect conditions being required for obtaining the achievement “Such Dodge, SO Mega.”
-
A rare instance of the game crashing under certain conditions.
Final Fantasy XVI’s last major patch (1.31) made available the game’s second and final DLC, The Rising Tide, which is available for purchase now in the PlayStation Store.
